I'm so dumb dumb dumb. I earn roughly $48,000 a yr & I have accrued close to $40,000 in credit card debt, it's about $800 per month, $1750 for my house, $470 for my car, then all related living expenses. I bring home after taxes: $2,600 per month. I have obviously lived beyond my means. How did it get so bad? I trusted people. I trusted someone for 14yrs, never put him on my credit cards, but did take care of a lot of his expenses/debts. He decided he wanted out & that he shouldn't pay me back. That being said, I'm lost, I'm stressed, and I'm ashamed. I can do debt consolidation, but I'm scared. I heard you pay 3 months to them while they are negotiating your debt w/ the credit card co's. During that time, you are getting more dings against your credit because they aren't paying them yet…so you have to pay them too. Afterwards, if they are late on payments…more dings. I have a new boyfriend that gives me a grand a month…but I'm afraid the same thing will happen. Any suggestions?
What I would do is worry about yourself first before you worry about anybody else have them take care of their stuff don't put their weight on you because is not fair. I understand helping people is great but sometimes you have to look out for your self becasue people take advantage, that said. Regarding this debt the best thing you could do is Debt settlement because they will negociate with your creditors to lower your debt and most of the time it will be up to 80% off what you owe here is a great site that will help you this guys will call you and let you know what they could do for you and is a free analysis. www.creditfinancialservice.com

You really will be better off to avoid bankruptcy. Ask trusted people (perhaps at your bank) if there is an agency that can help you. Not all are good.
This isn't going to be easy but look at it as a 3-year plan. Tighten your belt and get this behind you. You won't regret it.

I recommend working with your bank or someone locally. Alot of debt consolidation companies end up making things worse in the long run. Bankruptcy is the last resort, make sure there are no other options before you file for it.

Pander - I know of a company that specializes in helping people in your situation. Debt consolidation leaves a bad mark on your credit - call third party intervention. It looks like you have to have someone else pay your bills. I can help you pay that off in 3 years for less than you are paying now. We have a team of people that work for you - and a Dun and Bradstreet number. If you are interested - please contact me - I can give you more information then. It's just an offer to help.
