Here’s what I think and hope:
In 2008, Barack Obama became the nation’s first African-American president. His presidency became one of the most historic presidencies because of his drastic turnaround of the country. The recession of 2008 was turned around when Obama introduced tax increases for the ultra-wealthy. This helped decrease the national debt, which was trillions of dollars after Bush’s presidency. Obama pulled troops out to end the failed War in Iraq, while still putting pressure on terrorist groups. His diplomatic action against enemy nations helped restore trust and understanding between feuding nations. His introduction of universal healthcare caused 99% of Americans to be insured, meaning tax dollars could go to worthy causes rather than paying for the health bills of uninsured Americans. Obama was perhaps most famous for his ability to cross party lines and negotiate with Republicans. In fact, his Vice President John McCain helped Republicans and Democrats come together
it is actually very possible that obama could pick someone like mccain to be his vice president. a few articles and editorials have explained that possibility of a dem/repub P/VP duo.
Heres what I think
In 2008 Obama became the nation’s first African-American president. He ushered in a new era of much needed pragmatic leadership after decades of partisan gridlock. He took on the special interest groups and helped bring medical care to millions that had previously been without access to care. He initially met with some resistance to his policies but after his assassination attempt the whole country rallied behind his presidency. He guided the country through rough times and will best be remembered for not only uniting the country but uniting the world behind Americas goals and aspirations.

I wonder if the fact that he’s African-American will encourage more African-American voters to get out and actually vote. It seemed like when Jesse Jackson ran there was some upsurge of voting participation but not a whole lot.

We’ll considering that Obama has no plans to leave Iraq, I doubt that is likely to happen.

A nice thought but if all that happened, they would send him on a hunting trip with Dick Chaney. When you smite the wealthy, they smite back.

Obama would never select McCain because McCain is interested in escalating and continuing the Iraq war, he says for the next 100 years. Our country is sick of our troops dying so Bush and Cheney can get richer and richer.
I’m voting for Edwards because he wants to bring our troops home now.
History will tell of the devastation Bush’s presidency brought to our country and the world.

well, since the country re-elected bush, i don’t know who’ll get elected.
but history will certainly say that whoever gets elected inherited a disaster, financially and politically. and a nation that doesn’t care about it’s children — considering the debt we’re leaving to them.

If the president is Ron Paul, the book will say that he saved the country from the Depression II.

Could be something like this: When the country was facing difficult issues like being involved in 2 wars, a failing economy, a recession around the corner, had a $9 trillon dollar debt, and a host of other complex issues - an inexperienced candidate was illogically chosen to try to lead a superpower nation, when an experienced, capable & qualified Senator Hillary Clinton was available.

What will the history books 50 years from now say about our next president?
Let’s not be too hasty. Remember that we still have a minor detail called an election to go through. Maybe historians will just have to see who our next president is BEFORE they write their reviews.

copyright 2058. After 7 years of George Bush jr. and a year of President Cheney the voters hated the GOP, but the republican national comittee never quits. They came up with a plan, lets make believe we are democrats and vote in their primary, They saw Mr.Oboma on tv and said "oooh! that boy is so unelectable even a republican could beat him!" and they voted for him ( in the primaries not the election) Believe or not, this plan worked. The next president replaced the American soldiers in Iraq with captured undocumented aliens who were drafted.

There is not a whole lot that Obama and McCain agree on. If they ran on the same ticket, they would both have to abandon their convictions.
Aside from that, McCain now seems likely to become the Republican presidential candidate, which would rule him out as a VP.
I do like Obama, and think he would be a good president. He’d be helped by a running mate with McCain’s level of maturity and experience. But realistically, it would have to be a Democrat.
