Most Americans need amnesty for their credit cards debt. What do you think?

When our goverment & Private lenders gave amnesty and debt relif in billions dollars for the so called theird world and poor countries around the world, why not we get credit card’s debt relief here in America. After all, aren’t we the one not only who are paying tax for our government but also who are codemn to pay19-21% interest for those greedy credit card companies. May be we have to sign & send petion for our senators & congress to ask them on behalf of their citizen. But why the American government & corpoarate are hard to their own tax payer citizen than outsiders. The recent Bush’s immigration bill supported by the American corporation is a good example.

You’ve got my vote!

PS - What many people / hard-hearted / fail to consider that there are those who would NOT be in financial straits if it weren’t for circumstances Beyond Their Control. Speaking for myself: Unemployed prior and after 9-11 for 11 months. Only job I could get was part time (and I still have that job 5 yrs later), and no one wants to pay me at the level of income I was making prior to 9/11 because I am "over 40".
#1 - I can’t force an employer to keep me on their payroll
#2 - I can’t control outside terrorist forces and their impact
#3 - I can’t force an employer to pay me what I am worth earning due to my educational background & experience if they don’t want to, or can’t due to budget restraints.
#4 - I can’t get my creditors to stop collecting because I am unemployed for 11 full months
    #5 - I certainly can’t change my age!

So, those of you who have never had to fall on credit cards in order to SURVIVE, shut up! Just simply Shut Up! I was debt free prior to 9/11 and had to pay for additional schooling & supplies out of my own pocket, overhead, and then divorce (the lawyers got paid). So, like the saying says:

Don’t judge those of us in Credit Debt unless you can walk that mile in our Credit-debt soaked shoes!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not have any credit card debt…I’m fortunate that my middle class job pays my middle class bills…I do not live beyond my means like most Americans…

Since I’m responsible in my spending and do not have any credit card debt does that mean that the government will give me the average of others debt in cash instead?

ANY PERSON WHO HAS THE PRIVILEGE OF USING A CREDIT CARD HAS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PAYING FOR PURCHASED ITEMS/SERVICES. ONLY A THIEF OR FOOL COULD NOT UNDERSTAND THIS. IT IS THE GREEDY CARD USERS WHO ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE BUSINESSES.YOUR MOTTO SHOULD BE "IF I CAN’T EASILY PAY THE BILL, DO NOT BUY IT"

Let us suppose that the Federal Government did as you suggest and forgave all debt and paid off the credit companies for us and raised taxes by enough to cover the cost of paying off all of those debts. In other words, let us suppose a massive shift of assets from those without debt to those with debt. How long before the newly solvent debtors would be in serious debt again?

I would go along with that idea, if student loans were also forgiven. The rate on student loans has gotten as ridiculous as the cost of attending college. Our country needs educated people, and pricing them out of the chance for university education makes no sense.

No, you don’t deserve amnesty because you bought all that stuff and put the amount on your credit card. Now pay up!
